Things to Do

With over 500 animals of 60 different species, the Bayou Wildlife Zoo presents wildlife like never seen before. Guests can take a guided tram tour that travels 80 across acres and see the whole zoo with the benefit of expert guides. The tour showcases many exotic animal species, from buffalo to zebras, while Addie Lou’s Barnyard is home to both rare creatures and classic farm animals, like lemurs and sheep. The Big Red Barn is where the giraffes call home, and it also contains the gift shop.
 
Helen’s Garden creates a lovely, serene ambiance beneath mature trees about 100 years old. Quiet and peaceful, the beautiful garden is ideal for walks, picnics, and photography. Guests can read about the garden’s history on the plaques around the area as they enjoy the greenery, flowers, and fountains. It can also be rented for weddings and other special occasions.
 
Walter Hall Park is a beautiful park with expansive space. It includes a creek pier, boat ramp, water fountain, picnic pavilion, indoor banquet hall, playgrounds, and baseball, volleyball, tennis, and soccer fields. Here, there is something fun for everyone.
 
Covering 148 acres of wetlands and home to many local plants and flowers, Dr. Ned and Fay Dundey Clear Creek Nature Center includes several trails, a butterfly garden, and a pavilion. As many birds live or stop in the park during their migration, the center put up several bird blinds, allowing visitors places to watch the birds. Education through signs, field trips, and literature is a major goal of the center.
